The White Stripes top NME Chart

The White Stripes have topped the NME Chart tonight (September 2).

'You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)' knocks Maximo Park's 'Girls Who Play Guitars' off the top spot.

New entries come from Babyshambles/a], who are in at Number Four with [B]'Delivery'[/B]. [a]Jack Penate enters at Number Eight with 'Second, Minute Or Hour' and Cajun Dance Party go in at Number Ten with 'Amylase'.

The House Of Love to reissue classic album

The House Of Love are to reissue their classic debut album shortly after they play it in its entirety in London next month.

'The House Of Love', which originally came out in 1988, is re-released on September 24 will come packaged in a card gatefold sleeve featuring the definitive original artwork, plus extensive new sleeve notes.

The band, who reformed in 2005, will perform the album in full at London's KOKO on September 13 as part of the 'Don't Look Back' series of shows.

The band will also re-release a compilation of early singles and rare tracks on September 24.

This record, also self-titled, was initially released in 1988 as an import only through Rough Trade Europe and collected together the A & B sides of the bands first two singles, 'Real Animal' and 'Shine On', plus some previously unreleased tracks.
Polyphonic Spree map North American tour

The Polyphonic Spree have announced the dates of an extensive summer tour in support of their forthcoming album.

The Texas collective will begin their North American jaunt in Dallas, Texas on June 23 and hit major cities including New Orleans, Washington DC, Boston, Seattle and Los Angeles. They'll wrap things up in Aspen, Colorado on July 23.

The band will also play two upcoming festivals -- Sasquatch! in George, Washington on May 27, and Lollapalooza on August 4 in Chicago, as previously announced.

'The Fragile Army' -- the follow-up to 2004's 'Together We're Heavy' -- is due out on June 19 in the US.
