| Ra Ra Riot drummer found dead The body of Ra Ra Riot drummer John Pike has been found. Pike, 23, went missing after leaving a party in the early hours of Saturday morning. The band played a show in Providence, RI on Friday night and afterwards attended the party in Fairhaven, MA. Pike left the party at 3am. The search began on foot and by air yesterday around 4pm. Pike's cell phone was later found in shallow water on a beach about half a mile from the house where the party took place, according to local Fire Chief Tim Francis. This morning the search was extended, with divers searching the waters in the area. The body was found around 4pm this afternoon (June 3) in seven feet of water in Buzzards Bay, about 200 yards from where his cell phone was discovered. |
Glastonbury Festival organiser rejects Banksy offer Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis has rejected an offer to sell an onsite mock-up of Stonehenge. The move comes after the site's press office was contacted by an anonymous caller asking to purchase the exhibition by cult artist Banksy. The Stonehenge mock-up made out of graffiti-strewn mobile toilets was a huge attraction for many fans at the festival site. And although there has been huge interest to purchase the mock-up, Eavis confirmed that he has no plans to sell the artwork on. He told NME.COM: "I'm not going to sell it but I'm going to take it down though. I don't sell other people's art. That's not what I do." Banksy's artwork has often attracted huge media interest and controversy in the past. Last year he was involved in sabotaging copies of Paris Hilton's debut album with the help of Gnarls Barkley member Danger Mouse. He recently received an award for Art's Greatest Living Briton. |
Sunday Drivers headline Club NME LA Sunday Drivers headlined Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (June 27). The Los Angeles-based trio played several tracks from their new EP, 'Archetypes', and won over the crowd with their high-energy, '80s-influenced rock reminiscent of The Strokes and Interpol. Charismatic frontman Brady Erickson put his band through the paces during their nearly hour-long set. San Francisco-based rockers Strata opened. Resident DJ Dia spun a mix of rock, electronica, punk and hip-hop before and after the sets. Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night. The club will be closed next Wednesday in observance of the 4th of July holiday. |
