| Daft Punk movie set for North American screenings Daft Punk's movie 'Electroma' is set for a number of North American screenings in advance of its release on DVD later this year. The movie, which centers around "two robots who journey across a mythic American landscape on a quest to become human" is a silent feature-length production which debuted at last year's Cannes film festival. The movie is the debut feature directed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christoaka aka Daft Punk. The duo's music videos have been directed by some of the industry's most renowned music video directors including Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze. Their second album 'Discovery' was conceived as the soundtrack to the anime film 'Interstella 5555', which they wrote and produced, in collaboration with Japanese artist Leiji Matsumoto. Iggy Pop to voice role in animated film Iggy Pop will voice a role in an upcoming animated film. The Stooges frontman is set to play a politically active uncle in 'Persepolis', an animated political drama about a young girl struggling with life in Iran after the fall of the Shah in 1979. Pop will be joined by actors Sean Penn, Catherine Deneuve and Gena Rowlands, reports the Hollywood Reporter. The film, which is the North American version of the French film of the same name, is due to be released in the US at the end of 2007. |
Jennifer Lopez announces first-ever tour Jennifer Lopez has announced that she will embark on her first-ever North American tour this autumn. J-Lo will hit the road with her husband, singer Marc Anthony, for a co-headlining tour of the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. They'll kick things off on September 29 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and additional dates will be announced next week. Proceeds from the tour will benefit ING Run For Something Better, a kids' fitness programme that aims to reduce childhood obesity by introducing kids to healthy lifestyles. |
