| Modest Mouse, The Shins auction off items for charity Modest Mouse, The Shins and Stephen Malkmus have donated several items to be auctioned off for charity. The Decemberists, Dandy Warhols and Bon Jovi have also contributed unique paraphernalia such as hand-decorated guitars that will be auctioned off to raise funds for Portland, Oregon art school Buckman Elementary. The items will go on sale via eBay beginning April 22. An additional live auction is set to take place on April 27 at Portland's Melody Ballroom, where a guitar signed by Bon Jovi and maracas used by the Dandy Warhols will be available. Vacation packages, original works from student artists and tickets to Bright Eyes, Kings of Leon, Dinosaur Jr. and Joss Stone shows will also be on offer. |
Tori Amos maps North American tour Tori Amos has unveiled a slew of dates which will see her spend the last quarter of this year in the US and Canada. The singer will support the release of her ninth studio album 'American Doll Posse', which was released two weeks ago. Kicking off in Albany, NY on October 7, she will play almost 50-dates on the tour which culminates in Los Angeles on December 17. Only the October venue details have been announced, with more venues to be confirmed shortly. |
Akon apologises for raunchy dance Akon has apologised for performing a raunchy dance onstage with a 14 year-old girl at a concert last month in Trinidad. The singer came under fire when video footage of the dance appeared online, showing him simulating sex with the young audience member. Yesterday it was revealed that the sponsors of Gwen Stefani's tour have pulled their association as Akon was the opening act. Today Akon released a statement to the Associated Press stating he was sorry for the incident but was unaware that the girl was underage. The singer blamed the promoters at the club for allowing the girl on the premises, saying: "It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience," he said. "Somehow, that standard was not met." |
