Gruff Rhys, Bonde Do Role for UK/Brazil fest

Four Tet are among the artists participating in a festival featuring collaborations from UK and Brazilian artists.

The TrocaBrahma festival is set to take place in London, Liverpool and Glasgow from July 26-29.

It is part of an exchange programme that brings UK artists to Brazil to collaborate with Brazilian artists. The artists then perform material resulting from the collaborations during the summer UK festival.

The artist pairings will be Os Mutantes with JD Twitch; Bonde Do Role, Radioclit, and Amanda Blank (hosted by Diplo); Gruff Rhys and Tony da Gatorra; Four Tet and Open Field Church; King Creosote and Romulo Froes; and Ben Westbeech and Tita Lima (hosted by Gilles Peterson).

This will be the first time legendary Brazilians Os Mutantes have performed in Glasgow and Liverpool.

The Nice Boys headline Club NME LA

The Nice Boys headlined Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (July 25).

The Portland quartet played a lively set filled with three-part harmonies and '70s-style guitar riffs while the crowd cheered and sang along.

Meanwhile, Australian punk legends The Saints were forced to cancel their first LA show in 20 years due to visa troubles.

Taking their slot were the lively LA seven-piece Jail Weddings.

Resident DJ Dia spun a mix of rock, electronica, punk and hip-hop before and after the sets.

Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night.

Next Wednesday (August 1), Great Glass Elevator and Houseguest are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture.
Phil Spector Trial: Day 26

The trial of music producer Phil Spector continued today with a second day of testimony from criminologist Lynne Herold.

After a day of recess, the court resumed today (June 21) as Herold went through further photographs taken at the crime scene, including the .38-caliber Colt Cobra that was found near the body of Lana Clarkson, who died from a single shot to the head.

Spector is charged with murder of the actress at his mansion in 2003. The defense team is saying she shot herself.

Today Herold said the raised surfaces of the gun appeared to have been wiped of blood, but that it was impossible that Clarkson could have smeared the blood herself.

Herold also pointed out a "mottling" on the gun which she described as similar to the effect of a moist cloth being wiped over a stainless steel surface.

"In general, blood has been moved or removed" she stated, and the only other person in the house at the time was Spector.

The defense team is expected to argue that Spector was trying to help Clarkson after the shooting.
