New Order split: it's official
After months of speculation, New Order have finally confirmed that they have split.
The news follows months of uncertainty, and a confirmation by bassist Peter Hook at the beginning of the month that the band had decided once and for all to go their own way.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Hook seemed upset as he explained the situation.
"It has been very sad actually, and it has been very difficult to live with, but that is life, isn't it?" he said. "But you pick yourself up, you dust yourself off, and you start all over again."
Pushed to give a reason for the split, he replied simply, "It's personal". |
The Jesus And Mary Chain make live return
The Jesus And Mary Chain made their live return last night (April 27) a "secret" Coachella Festival warm-up show.
The band played the Glass House in Pomona, California, their first gig since 1998, to prepare for their festival return today (April 28).
According to Laist.COM, the group played a "slow but steady" set which saw frontman Jim Reid ask the crowd "happy we're back?".
After the crowd cheered, he simply told them to "fuck off" and looked at his drummer.
Actress Scarlett Johansson had been rumoured to sing the female vocals on the band's classic 'Just Like Honey' at the gig, however on the night Giant Drag's Annie Hardy filled in.
The band are now due to play Coachella itself and NME.COM will be on site bringing you the best coverage from this year's event.

Jamie T gave Dizzee Rascal a shout out at the Oxegen Festival tonight (July 8).
Before playing 'Calm Down Dearest' T said that he was please to hear the rapper's set earlier in the day in the Green Tent.
He said: "I was sleeping just by this tent and I was fortunate to wake up to the sound of Dizzee Rascal's set. Shout out to Dizzee."
Accompanying himself on a version of 'Back In The Game', T broke into a freestyle when he looked up to the top of the tent and found water seeping through.
He sang "It's raining here/ It's time to go home" |
