The Maccabees play raucous iTunes festival gig
The Maccabees played an intimate gig in London tonight (July 28), at the Institute of Contemporary Arts venue, as part of the iTunes festival.
The festival sees a gig a night happening at the venue throughout July.
Singer Orlando Weeks introduced 'Good Old Bill' by saying: "This song is about my granddad and a tract engine so this is a train," speaking about drummer Robert Dylan Thomas's high hat effect.
A raucous version of 'Precious Time' led to a mass sing along from the crowd, resulting in Weeks holding the microphone stand into the audience and getting a fan to sing.
Afterwards Week said: "You can listen back to your voice and hate it as much as I do," referring to the fact that iTunes were recording the gig for later release.
Following triumphant closer 'First Love' Weeks jumped on Thomas back and left the stage. |

Ambulance LTD continue work on second album
Ambulance Ltd are continuing to work on their second album, following a stint in the studio with John Cale last year.
As previously reported here, the Velvet Underground man spent a spell in the studio with frontman Marcus Congleton last fall in Los Angeles, resulting in 18 tracks.
Ambulance Ltd split in 2006, with Congleton subsequently acquiring ownership of the band name after a legal wrangle, which delayed the second album's progress.
"Ambulance has suffered some unwelcome reality doses in the past couple of years" Congleton admits. "Many songs have been written and recorded but legal battles, interpersonal dramas, and spiritual meltdowns have stilted our sophomore effort."
Congleton recently returned to New York where he's been busy working on new material..
"We recorded a load of songs with John Cale and Rick Parker but now have an additional four that we want to lay down" he says "There really will be a new album very soon - and it will be great!" |
