Secret Machines set for secret New York show

The Secret Machines will play a 'secret' show in New York tonight (May 17).

The band are in the city to perform as part of the David Bowie-curated Highline Festival, with their official performance happening at the Highline Ballroom on Saturday (May 19).

Tonight's performance will take place at The Annex on the Lower East Side.

While the Highline Ballroom show is sold out, some tickets are still available for tonight's intimate show at Ticketweb.
Green Day to release single

The first single from the John Lennon cover album Instant Karma: The Campaign to Save Darfur, Green Day's "Working Class Hero," is set to hit iTunes tomorrow. The album, which features some of Lennon's original vocals, also includes Lennon covers by the likes of R.E.M., U2, Black Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera, Jack Johnson, Snow Patrol, Aerosmith, and Corinne Bailey Rae. The album is set for a full release in late May.

"It's wonderful that, through this campaign, music which is so familiar to many people of my era will now be embraced by a whole new generation," Lennon's widow Yoko Ono said in a statement. "John's music set out to inspire change and, in standing up for human rights, we really can make the world a better place."
Foxy Brown pleads not guilty in assault case

Foxy Brown pleaded not guilty today (October 16) to assault charges stemming from an incident in which the rapper allegedly threw her mobile phone at a neighbour.

Brown, 28, appeared today in Brooklyn State Supreme Court to enter the plea, reports the Associated Press.

The rapper was arrested in Brooklyn in August after she allegedly used her mobile phone to strike her neighbour, Arlene Raymond, for complaining about the volume of her car stereo.

Brown has been in Rikers Island prison in New York for violating probation by skipping anger management classes and leaving the city without permission in an unrelated case.
