| Kanye Targeting September For 'Graduation' Kanye West is eyeing a September release for his third Def Jam album, "Graduation," which, as first reported here in January, will feature Coldplay's Chris Martin on the song "Graduation" as well as track "Can't Tell Me Nothing," a snippet of which has begun making the rounds online. The latter cut, which was assembled with the help of DJ Toomp, finds West rapping, "I had a dream I could buy my way to heaven / When I woke I spent that on a necklace / I told God I'd be back in a second / Man, it's so hard not to act reckless." West previously told Billboard he'd be working again with producer/multi-instrumentalist Jon Brion, who played a key role on his 2005 album "Late Registration." The artist will make a handful of live appearances this summer, beginning July 2 in Manchester, England, and including a July 7 set at Live Earth in East Rutherford, N.J., a July 14 stop at the Cisco Systems Bluesfest in Ottawa, Ontario, and an Aug. 18-19 booking at the U.K.'s V Festival. |
Ra Ra Riot drummer found dead The body of Ra Ra Riot drummer John Pike has been found. Pike, 23, went missing after leaving a party in the early hours of Saturday morning. The band played a show in Providence, RI on Friday night and afterwards attended the party in Fairhaven, MA. Pike left the party at 3am. The search began on foot and by air yesterday around 4pm. Pike's cell phone was later found in shallow water on a beach about half a mile from the house where the party took place, according to local Fire Chief Tim Francis. This morning the search was extended, with divers searching the waters in the area. The body was found around 4pm this afternoon (June 3) in seven feet of water in Buzzards Bay, about 200 yards from where his cell phone was discovered. |
Spector trial: Day 12 The Phil Spector murder trial continued today with a ruling that forensic evidence was removed from the scene and hidden from the prosecution. The object in question is thought to be a portion of a fingernail with traces of a passing bullet. The fingernail is thought to belong to actress Lana Clarkson, whom Spector is accused of murdering in February 2003 at his home. The nail would offer proof that Clarkson was resisting having the gun places in her mouth. Spector maintains that Clarkson, an actress, killed herself. According to Judge Larry Paul Fidler, only one person, attorney Sara Caplan, has offered a credible account of seeing forensic expert Dr. Henry Lee place the nail in a vial. Lee denies removing the alleged evidence from the scene. Lee previously testified in the trials of O.J. Simpson and William Kennedy Smith and has his own show on Court TV. |
