| Britney Spears: the exhibition An art exhibition dedicated to Britney Spears has opened in Hollywood. Over 50 pieces have been put on display in the World Of Wonder art gallery. The exhibition is called 'Just Britney' and has been put together by TV producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbatos. It is running throughout early October. The exhibits include portraits of the singer made from bubble gum to another creation based on a paparazzi picture of her leaving a car with no underwear on. Co-curator Steven Corfe told The List: "People absolutely adored her and wanted to celebrate her bubble-gum, pop-princess years. Or they thought she was an irresponsible mother." |
Tegan and Sara announce North American tour Tegan and Sara have announced a string of intimate dates in the US and Canada kicking off July 14 in Victoria, BC. The sister-duo are gearing up for the release of their fifth album 'The Con' which is set to hit shelves on July 24. As previously reported here, the follow up to 2004's 'So Jealous' was co-produced by Christopher Walla (Death Cab For Cutie, The Decemberists0 at his Alberta Court studio and includes collaborations with Death Cab's Jason McGerr on drums and bass players AFI's Hunter Burgan and The Rentals' Matt Sharp. The duo are also planning a theatre tour in October. LA rave to feature all-star DJs Amon Tobin, DJ Spooky, Cut Chemist and Peanut Butter Wolf are among the DJs who will spin tunes at a unique event to be held at Los Angeles' Walt Disney Concert Hall on May 26. The late-night, multimedia rave called Pravda will be the first of its kind to take place at the renowned classical concert hall designed by architect Frank Gehry, mastermind of the similarly striking Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. The DJs will remix music by Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Mosolov to a backdrop of historic Russian film clips and live art installations at the event, which is being dubbed "a progressive exploration of the sounds, sights, and philosophies of the Stalin era." In addition to dancing and deejaying, the evening will feature a midnight performance by a 10-piece theremin orchestra in celebration of the birthday of the late Robert Moog. The inventor of the Moog synthesizer, his company also manufacturers theremins, widely considered to be the first fully electronic instrument.
