Weezer working on new album
Weezer are to start recording their sixth album next month.
The as-yet-untitled album will be the follow up to 2005's 'Make Believe'.
Singer River Cuomo said that the band should released the new album next year.
Posting on Weezer.com he wrote "Weezer[/a] is just polishing up a batch of songs for a recording session that is going to start at the beginning of July.
"This will be the final recording session for out sixth album, which we aim to put out in the first half of 2008." |
Tom Jones covers Arctic Monkeys
Tom Jones covered Arctic Monkeys today (July 1) at the Concert For Diana.
The Welsh crooner did a version of 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' at London's Wembley Stadium.
Before he performed the radically altered version of the track he said: "Now we're going to do something a little different. Something new."
The commemorative gig saw Kanye West perform his new song the Daft Punk sampling 'Stronger' and promise the crowd he would: "rip this stage in half."
His performance which saw him backed by an all female string section, a DJ and dancers all dressed in red, saw him race through a selection of songs including 'Jesus Walks', 'Gold Digger' and 'Touch The Sky'.
Earlier Lily Allen performed her hits 'LDN' and 'Smile' in a distinctive blue dress against an animated background.
Pharrell Williams also performed a selection of hits including the NERD track 'She Wants To Move' and the Snoop Dogg track 'Drop It Like It's Hot'.
He told the audience: "Despite all the crazy things that have happened over the world I want the people to stand up for peace." |
The Twang get the party started at Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival
The Twang rounded off their summer circuit with a crowd pleasing debut at the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival this evening (August 26).
Taking to the NME/Radio 1 Tent, the Birmingham five-piece were warmly received as they kicked off their show with 'The Neighbour'.
The band performed eight tracks from their debut album including hit singles 'Wide Awake' and 'Either Way', which saw the crowd bellow out every word, and forthcoming release 'Two Lovers'.
Commenting on the size of his audience, singer Phil Etheridge said: "It means a lot to us for you to come and see us because there's lots of other bands on.
"I hope you've had a great weekend because I have, fucking hell! Let's keep this party going."
The band closed their boisterous set by firing white ticker tape over the crowd during 'Cloudy Room'. |
