Paul Woolford hosts Sankeys Halloween Party
Sankeys line up a spooky soiree in light of Halloween with a rather dapper fancy dress party!
There?s nothing better than rave in costume, reflected in the strong turnouts year after year as the Mancunians get dolled up and whack on their ghoulish attire. And it?s even more eventful this year with groove shamen Paul Woolford lining up alongside the oddball housers Freaks.
Woolford stands as one of the most innovative and leftfield of producers and djs working within house music. A resident at Back to Basics in Leeds and at We Love Sundays at Space, Ibiza, Woolford is equally respected as being part of the elite in both the production and Dj echelons he inhabits, a fully fledged member of electronic music?s aristocracy.
Joining him will be Luke Solomon?s Freaks outfit, a ragtag live group that manages to craft sonic performances out of electronica. Their shows infuse every aspect of house to an organic performance experience, dripping with sassy funk, off kilter grooves and strong vocals pushing their leftfield take on music. Still riding high on the basis of their sleeper hit 'Creeps?, still showing no signs of abetting nearly five years after it first came to prominence, they?ll be bringing a swagger to Sankeys.
Sankeys Saturday favourites Ellesse offer their support. |
P Diddy flooded with job pleas
P. Diddy has been flooded with applications to be his new personal assistant after the rapper advertised the role on MySpace.
Over 10,000 offers have come in over the last four days after the singer invited applicants to post three-minute videos of themselves on YouTube.
Speaking on his MySpace page he said: "Oh my God, what have I started? Earlier I put it out there to you the viewers, you the people that made me. A lot of people dream about getting into this industry and being somebody. Everybody needs a chance. Someone gave me a chance, that is what this whole thing is about, it's about empowerment.
"This is not a joke, I'm trying to give a chance to somebody who is out there to be my personal assistant to help me to be the best and maybe I can help them to be the best. That's what this thing is about, helping each other out." |
American Music Club to release 'The Golden Age'
'I don?t intend to make songs dark or difficult. I want to make the best f*cked up pop songs out there.'
So says Mark Eitzel, lead singer and songwriter of the legendary American Music Club, who will be releasing their 9th studio album, The Golden Age, on Monday 4th February 2008.
Featuring 13 songs, The Golden Age exudes an understated brilliance, and sees AMC moving away from the fragmented studio sound of their last, critically acclaimed opus Love Songs For Patriots, to a lighter more cohesive sound.
Cited as 'America?s greatest living lyricist' (The Guardian), Eitzel is on top of his game once again. From the beautiful simplicity in 'All My Love', the pure twisted pop of 'Who You Are', to 'Windows of the World' an ode to the World Trade Centre, and the mariachi waltz of 'That?s Not Really You', The Golden Age is yet another triumphant return to form.
American Music Club will be doing a full UK tour in February 2008, in support of The Golden Age. More details to follow , |
