Wu-Tang Clan say they didn't 'sample' Beatles after all
The Wu Tang Clan have retracted a statement they made earlier this week claiming they had sampled The Beatles song 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.
"We didn't sample The Beatles, it was a replay, pardon," they wrote on their MySpace page yesterday (October 3).
The band added: "The statement that we made yesterday was incorrect and we apologize for any confusion it may have caused. We DID NOT sample The Beatles...rather we did an INTERPOLATION of the classic George Harrison composition 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.
"Dhani Harrison, son of George, through his friendship with the RZA, played guitar on the song and he himself helped secure the reuse license."
Wu Tang Clan also announced that their version of the song, 'The Heart Gently Weeps', can be hear on Loud.com. |

Morrissey cancels three more US shows
Morrissey has called off three more gigs due to a viral throat infection.
He was originally scheduled to play tonight (July 3) at Baltimore's Rams Head, on July 5 in Atlantic City, and on July 6 in Holmdel, New Jersey.
All three of these gigs have now been cancelled, according to Morrissey's spokesperson.
The former Smiths man has been suffering a throat infection that caused him to end a show in Boston early and reschedule several gigs, including one at New York's Madison Square Garden, as previously reported.
Tickets for the cancelled gigs will be honoured at the rescheduled dates. |
