New Order split: it's official
After months of speculation, New Order have finally confirmed that they have split.
The news follows months of uncertainty, and a confirmation by bassist Peter Hook at the beginning of the month that the band had decided once and for all to go their own way.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Hook seemed upset as he explained the situation.
"It has been very sad actually, and it has been very difficult to live with, but that is life, isn't it?" he said. "But you pick yourself up, you dust yourself off, and you start all over again."
Pushed to give a reason for the split, he replied simply, "It's personal". |
Geri daughter was a 'beautiful accident'
Geri Halliwell says her daughter was a "beautiful accident".
The Spice Girl - who has a 17-month-old daughter, Bluebell Madonna, with former lover, screenwriter Sacha Gervasi - believes motherhood has been a blessing and given her the motivation to be the best she can be.
Geri said: "So many women today are single parents, I don't feel different.
I think you get out of life what you put into it and Bluebell was a beautiful accident. I feel blessed to have her.
"I'm learning every day as a mother. I'm learning that she's like a flower that thrives when it gets sunlight, and the sunlight is confidence, and I feel that when I'm confident it gives her self-esteem. And that gives me motivation to go on and be the best."
Geri, 35, also revealed becoming a parent has made her a more compassionate person.
She added to Britain's Guardian newspaper: "At first I was a single, young Bridget Jones kind of woman. I was operating in a selfish world. Now I'm a mother my compassion has expanded."
The singer - who is currently preparing for the Spice Girls' comeback world tour which kicks off on December 2 in Vancouver, Canada - would love another child and is even looking into the possibility of adopting.
Geri said: "I'm open about it and I'm educating myself at the moment." |
Amy Winehouse hospitalised for 'severe exhaustion'
Amy Winehouse was hospitalised in London today (August 8) for 'severe exhaustion'.
The singer's hospitalisation follows back-to-back performances at two US festivals this past weekend -- the Virgin Festival in Baltimore, and Lollapalooza in Chicago, where she gave an atypically lifeless performance as previously reported.
Winehouse was released from the hospital this afternoon and advised to "take complete rest," reports the Associated Press.
As a result, she has had to cancel her performances in Norway and Denmark scheduled for later this week. |
