Sunday Drivers headline Club NME LA

Sunday Drivers headlined Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (June 27).

The Los Angeles-based trio played several tracks from their new EP, 'Archetypes', and won over the crowd with their high-energy, '80s-influenced rock reminiscent of The Strokes and Interpol.

Charismatic frontman Brady Erickson put his band through the paces during their nearly hour-long set.

San Francisco-based rockers Strata opened.

Resident DJ Dia spun a mix of rock, electronica, punk and hip-hop before and after the sets.

Club NME with Fred Perry Subculture takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night.

The club will be closed next Wednesday in observance of the 4th of July holiday.
The Cribs collaborate with Modest Mouse man

The Cribs have enlisted the services of Modest Mouse percussionist Joe Plummer, Gary Jarman tells NME.COM.

Jarman, who is based in Portland, Oregon revealed that fellow Portland resident Plummer has added percussion to some acoustic material that Jarman has written for The Cribs.

He also revealed the band are set to play a secret show in Los Angeles next week, prior to their appearance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival where they will play on the same day as Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire and The Decemberists.

The band's third album 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever' is set to be released this summer, and as previously reported here, was produced by Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand. The album also features a guest appearance by Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo, who will also appear at Coachella albeit on a difference day which unfortunately scuppered The Cribs plans for a live collaboration.

"Sonic Youth are playing the night before" says Jarman "It's a shame we're not doing the same day, because we were going to ask Lee Ranaldo to do a song with us."

The Cribs play Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on April 28.

Perry Farrell tells of his love for Muse

Perry Farrell is counting down to Lollapalooza 2007 and is most excited about seeing Muse play the Chicago festival.

"Muse are growing up and blowing up in the UK, and now they're coming to America" Farrell says "These musicians are amongst the greatest of their day and this should be a historical set Muse will perform for us at Lollapalooza this summer.

Speaking in an interview on Thursday (July 21) the Satellite Party frontman also revealed he's looking forward to seeing Nashville foursome Kings of Leon.

"We did Lollapalooza together back in 2003 and I remember seeing them backstage, and I invited them to my dressing room where there was always a party going on. They didn't say two words, they were always so quiet, kind of looking around for the young girls that were back there and chatting them up on the couches and stuff like that. They've come into their own and have really grown to be stars in their own right so I'm really looking forward to that set."

In addition to heading up the festival, Farrell will also play a set with his own band Satellite Party.

Lollapalooza takes place August 3-5 in Grant's Park, Chicago.
