Fall Out Boy, Timberlake sweep Teen Choice Awards
Fall Out Boy, Justin Timberlake, Fergie and Timbaland earned top honours at the Teen Choice Awards held in Los Angeles last night (August 26).
Fall Out Boy earned the choice Rock Group award, while Timberlake received best Male Artist and Fergie was named the choice Female Artist. Timbaland earned the choice Rap Artist hounour.
Meanwhile, Vanessa Hudgens of 'High School Musical' beat out both Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse in the Breakout Female Artist category, and Akon trumped Mika in the Breakout Male Artist category. Gym Class Heroes went home with the Breakout Group award.
Fergie performed 'Big Girls Don't Cry' at the show, and Avril Lavigne brought down the house with her hit single 'Girlfriend'. |
Cat Power wins 2007 Shortlist Music Prize
Cat Power has been named the winner of the 2007 Shortlist Music Prize for her latest album 'The Greatest'.
The album beat nine other releases from finalists such as Hot Chip, Joanna Newsom, Regina Spektor, and Tom Waits.
The Shortlist Prize was launched in 2001, and was won in its maiden year by Sigur Ros. Subsequent winners were NERD, Damien Rice and TV On The Radio.
Among the artists voting for this year's winner were Snow Patrol member Gary Lightbody, The Killers' Ronnie Vannucci, Franz Ferdinand, KT Tunstall, Panic! At The Disco, and The Flaming Lips' frontman Wayne Coyne. |
Mick Jagger reveals details of 'Best Of' collection
Mick Jagger has announced he will release his very first career-spanning retrospective this autumn.
'The Very Best Of Mick Jagger' is due out in the US on October 2 and features 17 tracks spanning The Rolling Stones frontman's solo career from 1970 onward.
The album includes duets with the likes of Bono, David Bowie and reggae legend Peter Tosh, among others.
It also features three previously unreleased tracks, including 'Too Many Cooks (Spoil The Soup)', which was produced by John Lennon and recorded in 1973 in Los Angeles. The other two tracks are demos from Jagger's Wandering Spirit session with famed producer Rick Rubin.
"For me, it's a great thing to listen to since all the songs speak to a certain time and make things come alive for me," Jagger said in a statement. |
